My name is Yael Platt, and for my senior project, I'm organizing a dance-a-thon titled Dance Hunger Away, to benefit the organization Heifer International. Heifer is an incredible grassroots organization that fights global hunger and poverty by giving families all over the world gifts of livestock and training, which help the families improve their nutrition and generate income in sustainable ways. The animals are like "living loans" because in exchange for their livestock and training, families agree to give one of its animal's offspring to another family in need.
I love to dance, and deeply believe in Heifer's mission, so I decided to combine my passions by organizing this dance-a-thon, in which members of my community could come together and contribute to an incredible cause through the fantastic medium of dance. I and my fellow participants will be fundraising leading up to the event, then dancing for six hours together on April 22nd (this Sunday!).
