| HaMakom Yenacheim- it is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing this past Shabbat morning of Morton Markowitz (Mordechai ben Yaakov ve'Bessie Beyla), beloved husband of Marilyn, father of the late Jonathan z"l, David and Ethan, father-in-law of Sarah Nicholson and Teresa Markowitz, and grandfather of Ariella, Triana, Jessica, Jack, Caleb, and Silas. Morton and Marilyn were two years shy of celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary and they are counted as beloved friends by many in the Beth Israel and Netivot Shalom communities. Funeral services are scheduled to be held at Congregation Beth Israel (1630 Bancroft Way) at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23. Internment services are tentatively scheduled to be held at Tel Shalom Cemetery (4100 Hilltop Drive, Richmond, 94803) at 3:30pm.
Shiva (following the custom of Beth Israel) will take place at the home of the Markowitz family (1285 Monterey Ave) as follow: Afternoon-Evening services will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, Wednesday, Aug 24, Thursday, Aug. 25, and Sunday, Aug. 28.
